The point about not letting fear of death destroy opportunities for disadvantat3e you4 is well taken.

However, in truth, athletic scholarships provide a "limited" exit in the sense that there just aren't that many for them.

For every disadvantaged youth that "escapes" with a college scholarship, how many others don't get that opportunity. Society needs to find a better way to help those "others".
