16-team conferences

You play your 3 division rivals every year
You play 6 of the additional 12 teams every year

So you see every team in the conference every 4 years

Each conference then has a 4-team mini-tournament to decide the champion before that rolls into the CFB playoff(4 teams)

CFB playoff are effectively 4 games long

Playoff Semi-final
