a remarkable job with both recruiting, and retaining key players, in what has been a challenging time, to say the least, dealing with an unstable coaching situation, then the impending probation.

This is going to be our strongest team, by far, since the 2016 season. Sure, I’d love to pick up a stud transfer pitcher with great D1 success, since our pitching staff is still so young. And with the post season probation behind us now, hopefully that may happen.

Agree that we need to see several players step up offensively so we are tough up and down the lineup, which wasn’t the case in the abbreviated 2020 season. There are plenty of candidates from the true freshmen in 2020 (who are still freshmen eligible), plus the incoming freshman class this fall, plus Chaumont, and I think you are going to see some spirited competition for those last 4 positions in the hitting lineup. We have a great hitting core already with Wilmes, Rollin, Kessinger, Wert, and Moore. I think we will be ok there.

Hope we get to see the team and the newcomers play some exhibition games this fall, but the virus numbers in Boone County have started to explode and I wouldn’t count on anything at this point.
