the one year post season ban had on elite transfer pitchers coming here. Particularly grad transfers or other girls with only one season of eligibility left would not have wanted to spend their last season on a team that couldn’t compete in post season conference and national tournaments. Luckily that was for just a short period of time, and now it’s over and behind us.
I don’t know that the post season ban had much of an impact on our recruiting. Certainly it could have, but I don’t see any evidence that it was more than minimal, if that. I think our recruiting was far more affected in a negative way with the turmoil around the team in the last few years of EEs tenure, both before and after he left. We lost some really promising kids during that time who had originally verbally committed here, and of course had high quality players transfer out.
Mizzou has actually never been able to attract the really great transfer pitchers who come on the market, and that goes back to the time EE took over. We have almost exclusively counted on incoming freshmen recruits to build our pitching staffs. We have literally never had a stud pitcher with good success at the D1 level transfer in. That doesn’t mean we havnt had some success stories with transfer pitchers here and there. I’m working on a list and rankings of Mizzou transfer pitchers since 2006-07.
