He has been an in administration for a LONG time, and people who are in admin are not nearly as well caught up on the details.

There is no question you will build up some immunity if oyu recover..that is basic immunology. How long it is good for is a good question.

I am not sure of the flu vaccine effectiveness if that is because titers go away, or there are just new strains each year....as the vaccine is very specific for specific strains.
