If a play has < 50/50 chance of succeeding, no matter what the play is I'm not sure I'd run it. That goes for DDF and that crappy boring football we've had to put up under clueless coaches of the past.
Running a DDF play just to run it to me doesn't make sense. If you have a kid like Bud Sasser, could could throw a little, then yeah, throw a backwards pass, let him throw it again like at Georgia in '13 in the right situation, then do a hook and ladder off it. Great, it probably had a decent chance of succeeding then.
Timing is everything. Make sure what you're doing coincides with the players abilities. I'll bet this shut down has put a crimp in your style, probably not able to have your coaches clinics as usual.
I'll write my DDF manifesto before the season, so you can see I'm not against DDF, just against doing crap for the sake of doing it. Or purely entertainment.
