A school knows that if it doesn't pay, opponents and professional teams will. As Missouri athletic director Mike Alden said last week after handing 34-year-old basketball coach Quin Snyder a new 5-year contract that could pay as much as $1.127 million in a given season, "The price of poker in college athletics is going up."
