number of deaths.
The numbers are skewed with the elderly because this virus goes through a nursing home where at risk people live in close proximity to each other. Are they going out on the town to bring this virus into their "closed community"? No, it's from visitors and staff going from various places and bringing the virus in with them.
It's no different than meningitis in a college dorm, fraternity/sorority, or military barracks. The statistics there skew towards young people being the victims and cases in the closed community create fear and panic.
But some of you all have this dismissive attitude about coronavirus being an "old people disease" and some are actually insulting enough to mention "it's old people--they've lived their lives. Just keep them isolated.
Yeah, that last part sounds easy in the make believe world of pickletopia but the support mechanism in place to sustain that means a lot of folks would have to live in isolation to care for that community.
Add to that the healthcare system is scrambling just to try and figure out all the variables in play with respiratory distress, organ failure, raised risk for stroke, and many other related issues.
