I found it instructive that in the many threads yesterday on the topic of child pornography and sex between adults and children, this is what I found:
- I was told individuals have a right to possess child pornography. The person posting may not support possession may not like it but they defend the right to possess it. That is evil.
- When asked repeatedly, and I mean repeatedly, if it was OK for a 40 year old man to have sex with a 12 year old girl, never once did anyone on that side say emphatically "NO" - and that is the ONLY responsible, caring and compassionate answer. We can discuss how to determine maturity level for consent. We can discuss if age is a silly basis or if it is too subjective. We can discuss how that decision is made. But here is an absolute fact. It is NEVER OK for a 40 year old man to have sex with a 12 year old girl. Period. Paragraph. End of discussion. Unless you are a immoral degenerate lacking compassion and care for decency. And no one simply stated that as a starting point for continuing the discussion.
I am all for rights of individuals. I am all for reigning in government and its insatiable appetites. But I will never support a philosophy that elects to abdicate the moral responsibility to step in and and call wrong wrong and evil evil. Even if someone wishes to do wrong and be evil.
