It had already devastated parts of Italy before it ever started to spread in mass in the US. For those that succumb, the average time from contraction of the disease to death is 14 days. The proportions of cases to deaths will probably even out over time but it does depend somewhat on testing (to understand the number of total cases) and the average age of the infected population.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
