I'm not optimistic about college football or the NFL. The pessimism has to do more with periodic recurrences (which absolutely will happen) than a continuation of the current situation. The spanish flu only went away due to the lack of availability of uninfected hosts with no immunity. The exponential rise of corona virus will tail off because so many people have self isolated and then it will come back at a point in the future with another peak. Given history, that will be a few months, not a few years.
