fact - the steps today, seemingly so Draconian, are efforts to stem the impact from being more severe. Fact is that not all those carrying the virus get sick. While that may be the case with many viruses, this one is 10 X or more fatal than any seen in 100 yrs.

Today these steps are designed to stem the tide. One of the causes for what seem today an over-response was the admmin's utterly cavalier and dishonest response. Early March Trump makes official statement - we got this contained, going to be "mild". Like nearly all things in life, if you bite the bullet and do what is necessary early then the later steps are less trying.
