the devastation to the economy will greatly outweigh the direct results of this virus.

You can call that callous all you want, but it is our modern economy and international division of labor that has facilitated long healthy living for so many people, and that has facilitated your ability to comfortably sit at your house and remotely accuse people of being insensitive to local tragedies.
