1. There won’t be a cap. It’s like the 2020 season never happened, even though it was 45-50% complete.
2. Yes there will be transfers, from Mizzou and every other team. But where do you transfer to? Every roster is artificially bloated. Everyone transfers from a 30+ roster to another 30+ roster because of the NCAAs stupidity.
3. Rollin will stay, and have 3 more years here and will go down as one of the best hitters ever at Mizzou. But she will never ever start another game here at SS. She will DH, or play 2B. That’s it. We have Wert for 2 more years at either 3B or SS. We have Bailey 3 more years at either 2B or SS. We have several great prospects coming in at the SS position. Rollin is done playing that key position.
4. Kessinger has 2 more seasons left now. She stayed here when others bailed on us, while she recovered from injuries. She is committed here. She is an all SEC player and perhaps AA. But she’s been in school here forever. Will she stay here and go to grad school to play 2 more years here? I hope so.
5. Koester, Schockley, Judge will never pitch meaningful innings here. Not with Kring, Schumacher, Weber, and Nichols having 4 years of eligibility left, and Dandola 2 more years. What I’m more concerned about is the position players. Way too many great players and only 9 positions in the starting lineup. When are the current freshmen, and incoming freshmen, ever going to get a chance to play, when we have at least 2 more years of eligibility for Wilmes, Rollin, Kessinger, Moore, Wert, and Bailey?
That’s 3 positions open for Cook, Warick, Moll, McGivern, and the 7 talented incoming non pitchers. How is that ever going to work out?
The knee jerk reaction by the NCAA, largely in response to pressure by several powerful coaches, is going to have lasting negative damage to college softball.
