1. He objected to Alden forcing him to accept the NCAA 5 game suspension and not fight the Miami allegations.
2. He was the fourth MU basketball coach in a row to reach a point of not speaking to Alden while reporting to him.
3. He asked for an extension that would allow him to continue recruiting rather than being a dead man walking and it wasn't given.
Given that he also reportedly got a pay raise and considerably more long term job stability, I'm sure he viewed it as a better opportunity to leave MU for Tulsa. And given that MU thereafter became a D2 program he was sort of demonstrated to be correct.
