The DEA charged him with drug possession, and released him. If he would have been involved in a 7 million dollar drug ring as a participant, I'm pretty sure they would have charged him with that as well, and held him.

Ice picks him up and says he was previously charged on the drug ring offense and let go, but that's not what he was charged with when he was let go.
