Mizzou should schedule only Power Five and elite Group of Five programs to be nonconference opponents.
Doing so would allow it to build (or at least attempt to build) a reputation as a program that would go anywhere, anytime to play anyone.
The recruiting pitch could include "come to Mizzou and you'll get to play heavyweights, you'll get to play in some of the classic venues of college football. Mizzou will play anybody, anywhere, anytime.
I expect the CFP will expand, probably to sixteen teams. That would allow a place or places for a team that didn't have the glossiest of records, but had a reputation for being willing to play the best, even if it had two or three losses.
