In this case, people got in too deep by listening to the financial aid offices of the universities who were in cahoots with the government. In much the same way as the housing crisis was caused by lenders in cahoots with the government and the second hand loan buyers. Both sides have created a ton of debt with low value created. It still does not abdicate the borrower.

Although in the case of the student loan, laws were made to deny the forgiveness of those through bankruptcy
