in a 3-4. The very first question that must be addressed is do you have enough DT's?
Not specifically pointing fingers here, but a lot of people miss the basic math of the down linemen.
In a 4-man front, you start 2 beefcakes, 2 DE's which are closer to DT's than LB's, and the 2-3 LB's depending on the backfield alignment. You then need doublet that for a rotation.
When you go 3-4, you start 3 beefcakes and you need 2-3 more for respectable rotation. And then while there are differences between the 2 MLB and the 2 OLB, those OLB are more like LB's than DT's.
But the first issue that must be addressed if you want to switch to a 3 man front is do you have 6 beefcakes that you trust to play instead of 4? If you don't, everything else is pointless.
