but you don't know anything. In the Senate - The VP breaks ties. BUT b/c VP and POTUS in the beginning were not friends the founders had the good sense in the case of Impeachment to put the tie breaker in the hands of the presiding judge.

If this ends as a tie, Roberts can say he will not vote - his option and the tie defeats the call for witnesses. That is the most likely result that Roberts defers.
