The realtor asked me why I wasn't buying a bigger home because I was cleared for a mortgage loan roughly twice the size of the one I was taking. I just laughed and told her I didn't need to accept a loan for a home I did not need and incur a debt I may not be able to repay.

Responsibility sometimes means saying no.
