to decide their country's future for themselves, I truly don't know which direction the world is going, but nationalism is on the rise. It could be a good thing, I'm all for people keeping their culture and identity.

A war between America and Iran will be bad for both, I'm pretty sure leaders of both countries know that.

I think because of the experiences of the 79 revolution the people of Iran are worried about the consequences of revolution and war. They want to gain their rights non violently and through a civil rights movement. This will happen if there isn't a major war, I believe it.
