matters eventhough my mother was fullblooded Syrian...she instilled in us kids that we were Americans and wouldn't teach us the arabic language though she was fluent (I wish she had).

It was my thought as I got older that the US should stay out of the middle-east altogether and that it would have been better for both parties.
