He is able to talk to them in an imbecilic fashion they desire because he is also an imbecile.

People who at this point still think that Trump is somewhat fit for the job or capable to some reasonable level of competency are not intelligent folks. That is not a possible thing to reconcile, by definition that makes them not intelligent. They simply have been duped/conned by an imbecile who shares or pretends to share their worldview.
