The allocation of all resources would be "equalized" not just media revenue.

Gate revenue, concession, merchandise, etc. would be pooled and divided equally. Recruits would be assigned to schools to provide an equal talent base.

And it wouldn't be separated by conference - Independent New Mexico State would get the same allocation of resources as Alabama or Michigan. That doesn't, nor should it, happen.

It's in the best interest of the SEC to have a certain baseline of resources available to all its member schools. This gives each SEC school the opportunity to put a quality product on the field/court which makes the media rights more valuable, which benefits all schools.
