to capitalism by nature, because it requires a league or division of teams that have to be relatively healthy financially in order to just stay in business.
Alabama needs The SEC to be a good conference, because if their value tumbled, Alabama's would tumble along with it.
Whereas in pure capitalism, Alabama could just eat everyone up, swallow them whole and take out all the competition. But in sports they need teams to play and competitors to prop up the value of the industry.
