Notice how statues, monuments, and school name changes spike during the the early 1900's and the Civil Rights movement...

Correlation does not necessarily mean causation but this graph is pretty damning...

FWIW I was against removing statues... until I dug a little and realized the vast majority of these were put up in the ****ing 1900's.
