Personally I believe they should be run by the government which ordered the incarceration. The idea of saving a buck by privatizing the system is a hard sell on me.

Why would it cost less to house an inmate at a private facility than a private one? Do the private ones have some special rate at which the facilities are constructed? Does it take fewer corrections officers? Are they paid less to do the same work in the private sector than corrections officers in the public sector?
