They defended him, saying it was general celebratory stuff not directed at anyone in particular. Upon further investigation when multiple reporters present disputed that version, he was fired.
I haven’t read enough to know if he was physically right in their face or if it was verbal abuse from across a crowded room, but either way, it seems like it was clearly directed at them and intended to throw the domestic violence stuff in their face, which is kind of a dirtbag thing to do, especially when all those reporters had wanted was for the team at some point to address a serious issue that they never did (aka doing their jobs).
