included a defensive lineman named Sam Adams (no, not of the beer fame). Sam was a hard-nosed, highly respected Texan. In fact Sam was one of the team captains. He was the first Texan I remember playing football at Mizzou, but I'm sure there were earlier guys. One thing I remember about Sam was that he had a car with Texas plates that read MIZZOU. The first time I remember seeing what we now call "personalized plates."
