It has much the same feel as heading into 2008-09. In 2006 Mike Anderson took over an absolutely cratered program with little fan support and a terrible roster. In year 1 did surprisingly well with it, but took a considerable step backward in year 2. The type of player he was selecting for was unique for his system, so from a recruiting standpoint it felt like we were taking on a lot of projects and reaches, and certainly weren't landing many national level recruits.
Now in that instance we had the largest year over year improvement in terms of wins in program history in year three as his roster was finally populated with guys who could play the style he wanted to play. I think we are still 2 years off from that, but we need to see some decent steps towards it this year. I think it will happen. But its at least within the realm of possibility that instead we have a rather mediocre season, and that would leave a lot of big question marks. The on the court results in my opinion will have some long term implications for both this staff and our program in general.
