Coach Martin has missed on a number of high-level StL recruits.
Honestly, it's kind of a catch-22. It's tough to recruit against so-called blue blood programs like Kentucky and UNC, and yet CM has chosen to do so. If he doesn't pursue them because of their unlikelihood to commit to MU (that was Kim's strategy), he's criticized for not going after them. If he does go after them (which he has actively) and they don't commit to MU, he's criticized for not landing them.
I believe that the way he and his staff are honest and hard-working on the recruiting trail. They pursue high level targets - the best players they can. Right now, however, it's easy to recruit against MU - our program was at rock-bottom just a couple of years ago. It's going to take some time to rebuild some credibility, but he's working on it.
And he has recruited StL. Dru Smith, Tilmon, Pickett, McKinney, M. Smith. Those are all StL kids he's brought into our program.
