like the United Way and Red Cross.
They should be allowed to have amateur sports teams regardless of how much non-profit revenue they generate. Players who want to volunteer for these non-profit amateur teams can do so, in exchange for an athletic scholarship and other student-athlete related benefits.
Players who don't want to be amateur athletes can go pro and make as much money as they want, while attending college if they so choose.
California wants to forbid these non-profit organizations from having volunteer, amateur-only athletic teams based on how much non-profit 501(c)(3) revenue it generates. There's no way the SCOTUS will allow that.
And there's no way enough Big12/Big10/SEC/ACC states will join CA in their fight against the NCAA to swing the pendulum in their favor.
Sorry, but your pay-for-play revolution is a pipe dream.
