Maher's Real Time had an author who talked about this subject, but few seem to understand Christianity or what is biblical about the crucifixtion.
Jesus came to be the sacrificial lamb. This act would facilitate the relationship between man and God and end the need for animail sacrifice. He would absorb the wrath of God. It would present man with the gift of grace which allowed reconciliation. He knew what was going to happen and said during his ministry he would rise on the third day. Soverign God ordained what was going to happen as it was orchestrated, if you will. They allowed it to happen, planned for it to happen, and wanted it to happen. For misguided people to blame the Jews was and is misguided theology.
(Matt, you can react as you will and belittle and discourage faith which provides meaning, support and purpose for billions of people. That's because God gives you free will. And pickle, just try to restrain yourself and contribute some iota of intelligent dialogue.) Thank you and good morning on a glorious, beautiful day.
