I often wonder how someone like Chelsea Thomas, who was a pretty big local celebrity and a big name in a sport that parents pay a lot of money for their kids to play at a competitive level.

Millions of dollars in endorsements? Definitely not. But I bet a top softball player could easily get a couple nice local endorsements, some camp work over the summer, and maybe, if they're really good, a softball equipment endorsement deal. They won't get rich, but it would at least cover the full cost of college, which most of them don't get in that sport.
