It's akin to sending a letter versus sending an email. I'm not discounting league title (same for writing letters) but in today's game like it or not it's all about the NCAA. Auburn finished tied for 4th in the league last year and was the last team standing. How much recognition did LSU get for winning the league? Without looking it up I venture to say Auburn is more representative of what happens than LSU.
