The other part is that the coaching staff has to get out in the community and recruit hard. From a couple people connected in the hoops community in the KC area UMKC coaches are rarely seen around town.
Loyola went to the final 4 last season, 2 of their best were from the KC area.
It’s not that different from the change Cuonzo is trying to make at Mizzou. None of the coaches since Norm have really put a big focus on the state. As a result a lot of good talent has left.
