Not at all. I am well aware that more than a narrow strip will be involved. I have first hand experience with eminent domain. Was victimized by development of a high voltage power transmission line across two of my farms back when I was still in my 30s. The laws are well established. The best a landowner can do is negotiate price and terms. A landowner can't stop it from happening. Have you heard of the SC's Kelo decision?
It is unfortunate these farmers and ranchers will be required to lose their land for the public good. I was required to lose the use of a narrow strip of farmland so that urbanites in Kansas City could gain access to an adequate electric power supply. Did it benefit me? Not at all, but that is how our laws work.
