Almost everyone favors some path to legal citizenship. But how many and how do you qualify? What is a reasonable timetable for the process?
For those that don't choose to pursue legal status, how do we enforce? Who gets deported, when and how?
How do we evaluate asylum seekers? How do we manage the families that show up seeking asylum?
Do we favor certain skills and ability to contribute to the economy? What are reasonable approaches for granting non-citizen legal status?
All of that is more important to me than "the wall." We have immigration issues to address and we should. Put the wall on the back burner and start looking at the real issues.
