We don't really have any playmakers in the backcourt, and when you remove Tilmon from the equation a high caliber team is going to force you into trying to overcreate and do things you are capable of simply because there is a shot clock and you have a limited amount of time to try and generate decent looks. We are going to look worse than normal in a situation like last night.
Geist should be playing off the ball, not being asked to be a primary ball handler. Its unfortunate he is put in that situation. He is at an athletic disadvantage so he will always at times force shots or take awkward looks. He would be a lot more effective with someone else generating those looks for him, but we don't have that someone. For better or worse, offensively Geist has assumed the role of the guy who will take shots like that. Its mostly out of necessity, because I'm not sure we have anyone else who will effectively step up and take them.
