In short, the media coverage has now convinced every psycho that the way to draw attention to their beliefs, or terrible life is to plot, and execute mass murder.

Which the media then covers nonstop for higher ratings.

I'd prefer the old roman way. Damnatio_meorie. That's where you show no coverage, remove the person from history, blot them out entirely.
