of being in the SEC would still prefer being in the B1G conference. I know many of you were traumatized when Missouri faced the very real danger of having the Big XII conference implode around you. The Big 8 was a great conference and many of us remember it fondly. Conference expansion with the Texas schools unfortunately became the 'nightmare on Elm street' scenario that many thought it would. As much as you would like the Big 8 is not coming back. Many do not see the Big XII surviving the next inexorable round of expansion.
The good news, the SEC unlike your old conference has no grant of right clauses or fees that bind Missouri to stay in the conference. A simple half paragraph of see you later will suffice if Missouri wants to leave. The bad news is if you leave, you don't get to come back.
I would suggest be careful what you wish for though because you might get it.
In the SEC fans and the universities themselves fully support each other. Everyone pulls for each and every member institution to be successful. Everyone has equal revenue sharing. Everyone has an equal vote. No distinction given if you joined the conference as a founding member in 1933 or joined in 2012.
This is what separates us from other conferences and fans. This is what being in the SEC means. It is this lack of fan support for the conference or other SEC fans that puzzles so many of us about Missouri.
Many of you get it. MIZ-SEC!
