I don't disagree that the word racist and bigot have been intertwined..probably because in many ways they are intertwined. A bigot or bigoted comment is easy to determine...racism is not.
There is no question there is racial disparity in this country..it has many roots, and, in my opinion continues to stay there, much due to lack of opportunities and hurdles that are placed there by many...whites and blacks included.
I find it sad that a black man has so many more hurdles to overcome vs a white man..there is no doubt about that.
To me, you play the over-reaction side..you are so upset with this perception that things are forced upon you, that you lash out with the most insensitive comments that come across as being an ashole, bigoted, and sometimes racists.
you are so upset that a person of color got a job he/she is undeserving of that you outright attack that person. Why does that make you so upset.
Let them be upset. You can easily just choose to ignore it rather than react to it.
In this statement....
The HS kid that my wife and i mentor told me, "I know this is racist, but the dialect of the person indicated he is black."
ok...who cares if the person is black or white...why does the conversation need to even go there. Is it racist..not at all..is it even something to get worked up about..not at all either
