But not the way you might think.

Affirmative action stigmatizes blacks. On college campusses, as thomas sowell pointed out when he taught at cornell, blacks are assumed to be there "on a pass."

Compare that to jews in the 40s and 50s when there was no affirmative action and the jews especially in med and law schools were assumed to be BETTER than the average student because standards were higher for them. They were not wanted, admission was more difficult. Only the best got in.

Colleges desperately want black students. They have entire departments of diversity and inclusion. Deans, assistant deans, associate deans, entire buildings, entire departments working to get black students in the school.

Standards are lowered.

So understandably in my opinion, if some graduated from a school where the standards were lowered, where admissions were eased and professors were afraid to give the grade that was earned to a black student because he or she would be called a racist, black graduates are seen to be less competent.

That is a reasonable conclusion. It is decidedly unfair to the hard working intelligent black graduates, but their reputation is sullied by liberal policies of lower standards and black leadership constantly whining that they need lower standards. And that everyone except them is racist.

I worked in a large company for years that bent over backwards to get blacks in. They had special hiring departments. Special outreach programs. Special fast track career paths.

And yes, most people looked at them as less qualified people who got a pass. And frankly, most were. Less qualified.

But no one dared say anything. Everyone pretended that they were qualified. And i assume the blacks knew of the resentment they faced and they resented it in turn.

As for your studies, i think they are garbage. I'm sure they are scholarly, from brandeis university and their Institute on Assets and Social Policy, a lib think tank with an agenda.

It is preposterous, the libs overplayed their hand on this one, to suggest that white families headed by a HS dropout are THREE TIMES more wealthy than black families headed by a college graduate. That absurd headline assumes everything equal except the education.

That insults anyone capable of rational thought.

There is nothing in the study that defines "headed by," or "led by." Don't know what that means. White families are headed by, black families are led by. Why is there a difference? Pardon my cynicism, but academics and the media constantly weasel word their writings to fool the foolish.

It makes no allowance for single parent households. They are notoriously less well off than more traditional families. And blacks are more likely to be raised in single parent households. A single black mother with a degree from a HBCU in african american poetry, and three kids is likely to make less than a traditional family with a married man and woman with no children and each working 50 hours per week.

No allowances were made for any of these significant factors. Number of kids, number of parents in the household, hours worked per parents...

Steve jobs i believe dropped out of harvard. As did bill gates, iirc. Admittedly not HS dropouts, but these dropouts did much better than black college graduates. A study could show that college dropouts make a million times more than college graduates.

The study does not allow for the college that was attended. If someone recently graduated from SC State or Alcorn A&M and majored in african american literature and how it survived jim crow....that person is likely less affluent than a dropout plumber who owns three stores and works 70 hours a week after 25 years in the business.

There was no accounting for time on the job. Or self employed vs being an employee. Or major field of study. Or GPA.

The studies put out on this stuff are overwhelmingly garbage. Not scholarly at all in my experience, despite having been "reviewed" by like minded liberals in the university.

I would argue that the demand, the protests, the riots, the indignation and the capitulation by liberals to lower the standards has harmed blacks.

It stigmatizes, it embitters and it divides.

Typical lib compassion. But it keeps blacks on the plantation.
