The notion that JW3 transferred because of his teammates was debunked, it was simply a public justification of doing the classy thing rather than express frustration at the D2 approach MU was undergoing and the overwhelming failure. The highly religious aspect of Haith's program and Fuller being an assistant were also large reasons for him selecting MU and both of those reasons were removed impacting his transfer.

You can see in the responses, JW3 is still in communication and supportive of all of those guys who were attempted to be positioned as the problem.
Lots of qualified people would have taken the job. Its a marque job in a power conference with good resources, a strong history, and is well compensated. The AD would have taken a similar approach with any qualified candidate and not informed them an NCAA investigation was occurring just like what happened to Kim, because there wasn't an NCAA investigation occurring at that time (hence the reason Kim was also not informed). The only difference in that scenario is there would have been no reason to concoct an NCAA investigation if we had hired a legit replacement and continued to try to field a program.
Martin inherited less talent than has been at MU at any single point since the 1940's. This is what he inherited from Kim:
Terrence Phillips
Jordan Giest
Cullen Vanleer
Jordan Barnett
Kevin Puryear
Reed Nikko
Mitchell Smith
Jakoby Kemp
Recruiting class of CJ Roberts. 4 vacant scholarships.
Barnett is an SEC caliber player. Puryear is arguably an SEC caliber player. That is it.
