1) To provide more information about his conflicts of interest in terms of dealings with other governments.
2) To show he is lying about not accepting any loans or investments from Russia.
3) To show he has been lying outrageously about his wealth. (He claims $10 billion, most competent analysts say $2 or $3 billion tops.
4) To show his chronic, perhaps even criminal, evasion of income tax liabilities. While the IRS has his returns now, some would question whether the director of the IRS appointed by Trump would allow Trump to be investigated by the IRS. Also, publicizing the matters could result in the surfacing of information that conflicts with whatever representations Trump's representatives made in IRS audits. Causing some arrangements to be reexamined.
In the world of partisan politics it is fair game. Trump can not credibly play victim since he is an extreme partisan himself.
