avoiding the really awful teams, and scheduling teams from mid majors, for example, who can be expected to have high winning percentages, but are reasonably beatable.
I don't think I'm asking for that much from Kreklow, get rid of the really awful teams he plays every year and replace them with, for example, 2 teams projected in the top 25, and two more in the top 50. Preferably from the B1G and PAC, as there are tons of RPI rich teams in those conferences. You don't even have to pick the projected top 2 in each conference, just anyone in the top 6-7 will do fine. It could give us an extra edge when we are (hopefully) fighting for a national seed and home regional, which is so critical for success in the tournament. There isn't much that separates the last few teams that get a top 16 seed and the next 4-6 teams that don't. Any little edge helps. We ended up with literally nothing of value from our non conference schedule to give us any positive talking points with the NCAA selection committee.
And that is pretty much a self inflicted wound.
