to a presidential election with the senate in opposition control he was never going to be confirmed.
Should they have held the confirmation hearings for show knowing that even if they brought it to a vote every GOP senator would vote no in hopes winning the White House and getting one of theirs six months later?
Garland was not Obama's choice anyhow. He was just center enough to try to entice the republicans to start the hearings. If it had actually looked like it was going to come to a vote something would have come up forcing him to step down.
Most Americans and EVERY democrat knew Hillary was going to be the next President and there is no way Garland was going to be confirmed when they could wait a few months and Hillary could appoint some leftist Bader-Ginsberg clone to that seat.
It was political theater on both sides. The left was just as guilty as the right.
