It's essential to investigate corruption, crimes, etc.

Without the media and journalism Nixon would have served his full term, the Catholic Church would still be covering up sexual abuse, Jerry Sandusky would still be a coach at Penn State, Rod Blagojevich would still be running for elected office, etc., etc.
