Considering the amount of fans attending, TV viewership & otherwise, massive presence & exposure the PGA Championship is with the top players from around the world in the field that is a pretty ridiculous statement.
Any laughable negative spin considering Branson is the only other place in MO besides St. Louis & most surrounding states that even has ever had a PGA event & that is a Senior (Chanpions Tour) event, let alone a PGA Tour Major, screams empty, baseless pettiness.
You would feel pretty silly if you would have witness the massive “Golf Stadium & Global Golf/Corporate Facility that has been built at Bellerive over the last 5-6 months with PGA offices first being installed by the clubhouse well over a year ago (March 2017) & efforts & course design going back years before that. The amount of infrastructure for media, IT, fans, parking logistics, which will be widespread around western St. Louis County, etc, etc is enormous.
Just seeing the infrastructure put in place to present the huge entrance off Ladue Rd & welcoming pavilions, shops & other facilities that will be greeting fans as they arrive would instantly make you change your mind, imo. That’s just the main entrance. The very large Media Center & accompanying Media Dining pavilion are also viewable from Mason Rd, if you want to come by & see just the surface of the efforts that have been put in place & continue to be, if you aren’t planning on attending to be blown away by even more out on the actual course (you can see a bit of that too from the surrounding neighborhoods by the course, but you won’t be allowed to access the entire surrounding area by car, bike, foot, etc starting Sunday.
You can visit the Official Shops of the 100th PGA Championship at the main entrance (other shops on the course too during the tournament) starting this Friday & Saturday & Sunday too (hours listed online), but you have to park at the soccer complex by Creve Coeur Lake out on Maryland Heights Expressway & take shuttles in to the main drop off across Ladue from Bellerive. Believe it is free parking for this pre tournament event.
For the tournament itself, public parking will be at Fenton Logistic Park with shuttles bringing fans up from Fenton (carpooling highly recommended or better yet, ride sharing service/Uber or County Cab to the only drop off area at Westminster High School in Town & Country, where you will also take shuttles from there to the shuttle drop off at Kirk of the Hills Church across from the Main PGA Championship entrance at Bellerive.
As an aside, arguably MU Basketball’s best 2018 recruit’s HS is also just across the street from Bellerive by the main entrance (Torrance Watson).
Hope you can make it & get completely enlightened to what an event like this involves.
